Planting Tips for Heirloom Lettuce:
In the Spring or Fall, sow directly into very fertile, loose soil. Thin down to final spacing once plants are established. If you are growing lettuce in the heat, plant them where they will get afternoon shade. Harvest outside leaves rather than the full head for a continual harvest. If harvesting the full head, stagger plantings every 2-3 weeks.
